February 2026<\/time><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this guide, we&#8217;ll show you how to create advanced segmentation in Heyloyalty using our <strong>Segment Builder<\/strong>. If you don&#8217;t need advanced segmentation, you can always read more about <a href=\"https:\/\/guides.heyloyalty.com\/en\/help\/simple-segmentation\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/guides.heyloyalty.com\/help\/opret-segment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">general segmentation in our guide &#8220;Create a Segment.&#8221; <\/a>  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With our Segment Builder, you can exclude recipients and divide segments into subgroups to narrow down your audience and target it more precisely. In addition, you can use existing segments and personas in your rules, making it easy to create precise segments. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: The images in this guide may be from an earlier version of Heyloyalty&#8217;s design and may therefore differ from what you see in the system today.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Segment Structure<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A segment in Heyloyalty is structured as follows:<\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Segment  <\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Rule<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Criteria<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The above shows that a <strong>segment<\/strong> consists of <strong>rules<\/strong>, which consist of <strong>criteria<\/strong>. This means that when you create a segment, you create one or more rules for that segment, and those rules consist of criteria.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, you can also create a segment where your criteria consist of <strong>subrules<\/strong>. A subrule is a criterion that contains rules, which in turn contain criteria. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You create a subrule when you insert a segment into your criterion. Specifically, \u201cAnd\/Or\u201d segmentation is a way for you to determine whether <strong> \u201cAll\u201d<\/strong> or <strong> \u201cOne\u201d<\/strong> of the rules and criteria in your segment must be met.   <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#fc8d46\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Example of how you can use &#8220;And\/Or&#8221; segmentation:<\/mark><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You want to send the message to all women between the ages of 25 and 30 or between 40 and 50. For each rule and each criterion, you can specify whether <strong> \u201cAll\u201d<\/strong> or <strong> \u201cAny\u201d<\/strong> must be met. class=\"wp-block-heading\">Criteria with subrules<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In our Segment Builder, you can insert pre-created segments and flow conditions into a criterion.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This allows you to create sub-rules for your criteria, which can result in highly precise segmentation\u2014leading to better results for your email marketing, since you\u2019ll be communicating relevant messages to your recipients (rather than sending the same message to everyone).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can insert a segment or flow condition
