August 2026<\/time><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When setting up a customer club integration, you need to decide over which period members earn points.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this guide, you&#8217;ll get an understanding of how <strong>fixed<\/strong> and <strong>dynamic vesting periods<\/strong> work and how they are set up.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Earning period &#8211; Fixed  <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a fixed earning period, you define a specific start and end date for when members earn points and when they can use them.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earning and usage periods are automatically repeated. So, when we hit this date the following year, the vesting period will start again. class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Earning start date: <\/strong>The date when members start earning points.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Earning end date: <\/strong>The date when members stop earning points.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Points usage start date: <\/strong>The date when members can start using earned points.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Points usage end date: <\/strong>The date on which points expire if they have not used their points.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> The earning and usage period cannot overlap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Example &#8211; fixed period<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The example uses the <strong>Percentage discount (step)<\/strong> earning type.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These steps are set up:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure the usage period starts on March 31, 2027. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Earning period &#8211; Dynamic  <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A dynamic vesting period works differently than the fixed one &#8211; there is no common start or end date for all members. Instead, the period starts individually for each member the first time they trade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\"><strong>Think of it like this:<\/strong> It&#8217;s like a running clock that starts every time a member buys something. If this is set to 160, each purchase will look back at purchases made in the last 160 days and calculate the member&#8217;s step and thus the points for the current purchase.<br>When the 160 days have expired, the points for this purchase will expire for the earning period. If subsequent purchases are made, points can still be used as these purchases have their own earning and expiration period.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Waiting time before awarding:<\/strong> Indicates how many days it takes before the earned points become available to use. This is used, for example, to handle returns &#8211; if a customer regrets a purchase, points will not be used before they are canceled. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Use points within: <\/strong>Indicates how many days a member has to use their released points before they expire.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the member buys again along the way, a new &#8220;counter&#8221; begins for the new points &#8211; they follow the same rules, but with their own starting point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Example &#8211; Dynamic period  <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dynamic period is set with the settings below:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Earn points over: <\/strong>120 days  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Waiting time before awarding: <\/strong>After<strong> <\/strong>14 days points are released  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Use points within: <\/strong>110 days points are released  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is one member&#8217;s experience:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Day 0<\/strong> &#8211; The member makes a purchase. The points are earned but not yet available. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Day 14<\/strong> &#8211; The wait is over. The points are released and can now be used in the shop. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Day 14-124<\/strong> &#8211; The member has 110 days to use their points before they expire.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Day 120<\/strong> &#8211; The earning period ends.
