July 2026<\/time><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\"><strong>Merge fields<\/strong><br\/><br\/> With <strong>merge fields,<\/strong> you can personalize various content elements in your campaigns and automations, provided you have data available on the individual contact.<br\/><br\/> Typical uses for merge fields include \u2013 but are not limited to \u2013 items such as first name and interests, but can also be used to display the address, opening hours, and phone number of the recipient&#8217;s local store if you have multiple physical stores.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creating Merge Fields<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Merge fields are the same as the fields created in the list.  <a href=\"https:\/\/guides.heyloyalty.com\/en\/help\/lists-and-fields\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/guides.heyloyalty.com\/help\/lister-og-felter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">You can read this guide to learn how to create fields in your list.<\/a><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A merge field inserts a value only if data is available in the corresponding field on the form. If you want to ensure that all forms display content, you can specify a fallback text. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One example is the first name. If a contact does not have a first name on file, you can specify <strong>&#8220;Customer&#8221;<\/strong> as the fallback text. Once you\u2019ve inserted a merge field, you\u2019ll be able to see the merge field in the email, but not the specific data from a specific contact. In the top-left corner, you\u2019ll see <strong>\u201cPreview for: jens@jens.dk<\/strong>.\u201d Click \ud83d\uddd8 to have Heyloyalty select a new random contact from the list.
