With the default settings, you can customize Heyloyalty so that the system fits the way you work. Among other things, you can define defaults for the designer, manage system settings, and set up rules for mobile numbers and text formatting.
When you configure your default settings, you create a consistent starting point for your work and avoid having to make the same choices every time you create new content.
You can find the default settings by clicking the gear-shaped user icon in the upper-right corner.

Customize your design settings
Under “Design Settings,” you can define a number of defaults for the content you set up in your emails. These settings serve as a starting point when you create new campaigns or add new content elements in Step 2.
You can always change the settings for each individual campaign or content element at a later time.
You can customize the following settings:
- Image Alignment: Choose how new images should be positioned by default. You can choose between left, centered, or right.
- Cell padding: Specify the default spacing in px around the cell’s content.
- Automatic mobile optimization: Choose whether your emails should be automatically optimized for mobile devices. We recommend that you keep this feature enabled so your recipients have a great experience across all screen sizes.
- Default Preheader: Specify a default preheader to use in your mailings. A preheader serves as a secondary subject line and is often displayed alongside the subject line in the recipient’s inbox.
- Advanced Content Segments: Make segments from your lists available when you create row-level rules in the designer in Step 2 for campaigns and automation flows. This allows you to use segments and field data to determine which content each recipient should see. You can combine this feature with merge fields to create more personalized and relevant content for your recipients.
- Divider Line: Customize the default settings for divider lines used in the designer in Step 2 for campaigns and automation flows. You can customize the separator line’s height, the spacing above and below it, and its color.
If you find the separator line difficult to work with, we recommend specifying a default spacing above and below it. This makes the separator line easier to work with in the designer. - Default Colors: If your company uses specific colors, we recommend that you add them as default colors. These colors will then be available in the color picker when you set up your emails. Click Add default colors to add a color. You can always remove a default color by clicking the trash can icon.
Customize System Settings
In System Settings, you can configure features that affect your campaigns and the overall use of your Heyloyalty account.
- Enable suppression lists and pause lists: You can enable a suppression list and a pause list for contacts who should not receive mailings. Contacts on these lists contain only an email address and cannot be linked to other contact information. When a contact is on one of these lists, they will not receive any mailings from the account, regardless of which other lists they may belong to. You can find the lists under “Lists.” Click the three dots in the upper-right corner and select Show Suppression Lists.
The length of time a contact remains on the two lists varies:- Suppression list: The contact remains on the list until an administrator removes it.
- Pause List: The station is paused for a specific period of time, which you set on the station. When the period expires, the station is automatically removed from the pause list and can once again receive broadcasts.
- Show confirmation page for double opt-in: If you use double opt-in for sign-ups, you can enable ” Show confirmation page for double opt-in.” This setting is relevant if you find that, for example, a bot or a security system automatically activates the double opt-in link. When this setting is enabled, the contact is redirected to a confirmation page after clicking the link in the email. There, the contact must actively click “Confirm” to complete the sign-up.
- Stop Empty Campaigns: You can choose to automatically stop campaigns with no content . This feature serves as an extra safeguard and helps prevent empty emails from being sent to your recipients.
- Stop campaigns without a segment: You can automatically stop campaigns that do not have a segment associated with them. This feature is useful if your campaigns must always be sent to a segment, and it serves as an extra safeguard against a campaign being sent to the wrong contacts.
- Update Products in Step 2: If you notice that Step 2 loads slowly when you’re setting up a campaign, you can set “Update Products in Step 2” to “No” to improve the speed. When this setting is set to “No,” products from your product feed will not be updated in Step 2. This means you won’t necessarily see the products that are being sent to your contacts. If you want to view the current products, proceed to Step 3.
- Number of campaigns/automations per page: Under ” Number of campaigns/automations per page, ” you can choose how many campaigns or automations to display at a time in your overviews. The more items you choose to display, the longer it may take for the page to load.
- Soft bounce escalation: Set this option to Yes if you want to specify how many times a contact can receive a soft bounce before its status changes to “hard bounce.” By default, a contact can receive a soft bounce three times. After that, the contact’s status changes to “hard bounce.”
- If you enable this setting, you can choose the number of soft bounces that will trigger the “hard bounce” status.
- Automatically remove hard-bounced contacts: Set this option to Yes if you want Heyloyalty to automatically unsubscribe contacts when they receive the “hard bounce” status. This setting only applies going forward. Contacts that already have the “hard bounce” status will not be automatically unsubscribed when you enable this setting.
- Hide fields in the segment builder: Click ” Add hidden segment field” and select the fields you don’t want to display in the segment builder. This feature is useful if you have many fields in your lists but only use a small number of them when creating segments. By hiding the fields you don’t use, you can make the segment builder easier to navigate.
Custom validation of contact information
You can define default rules for validating phone numbers in the mobile phone field.
Here, you can specify, among other things, a minimum and maximum length for phone numbers. This helps you ensure that the cell phone numbers you collect from your contacts are in a format that can be used for SMS and SMS+ messages.
Text settings
If you use Heyloyalty’s default template, you can define a consistent visual style for the text in your emails. The settings take effect when you set up your campaigns or automations.
If your company uses specific fonts, sizes, or other text formats, you can define them as standards. This makes it easier to maintain a consistent look across your emails and also gives you greater flexibility when working with your templates.
Get More Out of Your Default Settings
Once you’ve customized your default settings, you’ve created a common starting point for your work in Heyloyalty. This can save you time on daily setup and make it easier to ensure a consistent look across your campaigns.
Use the default settings to define the choices you make frequently. You can then customize each campaign, automation, or content element as needed.
We recommend combining your default settings with other features in Heyloyalty, such as automation limits and test lists. This way, you can both customize the system to fit your workflow and make the process—from setup to distribution—more efficient.
