Two-factor authentication: Why is it necessary? 

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a required part of setting up your account in Heyloyalty. 
 
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an extra layer of security to protect your Heyloyalty account and all the information it contains.  
Why 2FA? The simple reason Heyloyalty has chosen to enable 2FA for all users is to secure your data as much as possible. 

In connection with Heyloalty’s GDPR compliance, it is essential for data security that you, as a user, use 2FA as an additional security measure. 

Why do I have to take out my phone every time I want to log in? 
At first, it might be frustrating to have to take out your phone every time you want to log in to your Heyloyalty account. It’s a very small effort to make in order to take security to a significantly higher level. 

Your Heyloyalty account often contains a great deal of information about your many contacts. If a security breach occurs in your account, it will therefore have consequences not only for you—but also for all your contacts. If you rely solely on a password you’ve created yourself, the risk of a security breach is significantly higher than when using 2FA.  

Spending five extra seconds when you log in doesn’t really matter once it’s become a habit. 

How to set up 2FA

When you log in to Heyloyalty for the first time, you need to set up a 2-factor authentication.

To do this, you’ll need an authenticator app on your phone (such as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator).

After entering your email and password, you will be able to see a QR code.

Scan the QR code with your authenticator app (e.g. Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator).

Enter the 6-digit code from the app on your phone in the Enter one-time password field.

You will now be directed back to the first login page. Enter the email and password and enter the new 6-digit code from your app on the phone in the Enter one-time password field again.

You are now logged in.

Future Logins with 2FA

From now on, every time you log in to your Heyloyalty account, you must:

1. Enter your password and email address
2. Enter the current 6-digit code generated by your Authenticator app.

This login method adds an extra layer of security to your Heyloyalty account when you log in. With two-factor authentication enabled, you can feel confident using the system to manage your contact information.
